June Blog Hop

Is it really June already?  Half way through 2013, I just can't believe it!  My baby is officially a senior as of this week and I'm not ready!  It's hard enough when your oldest child graduates, but when it's your baby, it's just making me feel a little bit old!
Well, on to the blog hop.  This month's theme is "you're the man" so I did some fun father's day cards.  I did the first one with the new Soho Subway DSP and ABC-123 Sketch stamp set from the new catalog. My dad was in advertising when I was growing up and I remember him laying out ads on graph paper to prepare them for print (in the old days before computers!!!)  This paper just reminded me of him.

The second card is using MDS (shocker!) and I tried to make it very manly.  Sometimes it's hard not to use ribbons and flowers but I managed ;)
I used Just Add Cake trim along with an epoxy brad which I changed with different DSP,  the grid paper from A Split Second kit (no longer available) and finished off with my favorite Naturals Composition overlay stamp.  I liked the way it turned out, since it didn't start out anything like that--does that ever happen to you?
The last card is just messy, crazy and fun--I made it for my hubby so don't tell him! This one used Number One embellishments along with the epoxy brads again, splatter stamps and the "drip" stamp from the Be Yourself kit. I hope to finish a video on how to change the epoxy brads in the next few days, so stay tuned!

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Make sure you visit all the blog hoppers and leave comments, it's always nice to read the comments from our cyber friends!

I hope you have lots of fun plans for your summer--it will be over before you know it!

Chalk It Up!

"Chalkboard" is all the rage right now!  I see it all over Pinterest, in the mall, in restaurants, on TV, wherever you look you will probably find a chalkboard!  I love some of our new digital downloads for that reason!  Stampin' Up! really is good at keeping up with what's on trend at the moment as well as the classics so that we can have fun creating funky, trendy projects right now, not next season when we've moved on to the "next big thing".  I thought I would create a baby card, but you could really change this up for graduations, weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, or any occasion.

I used a fun free font called Return to Sender along with items from Hello World ensemble and DSP from On The Go digital kit to make this a fun chalkboard card.  If you would like more information on MDS, I can set up a class for you and your friends to learn how to make this and many other fun digital projects or you can check out my MDS videos on my YouTube channel.

Enjoy your Memorial Day Weekend!

I'm back...

Sorry for the long absence.  I have been working on the Stampin' Up! Artisan Team contest entries and it has been a lot of work.  I don't know if I even have a chance to win, but as they say, you can't win if you don't enter!!  I finally got all my projects done, labeled, packed up and shipped--I felt like I was shipping my babies off!  Now, it's just a waiting game.  I will get back to creating for my blog this week, so check back in soon!

Thanks for sticking around!

Tango and Mambo to the Bridal Shower!

Ok, there wasn't much dancing going on at the shower, but Tangerine Tango and Melon Mambo were the bride's colors, so I went all out! My friend Mary and I went in on the gift together, so she handed over all the stuff and gave me full reign!  I used the extra rubber pieces left over from the clear-mount Daydream Medallions stamp set (don't throw those pieces away!!) and stamped both the drink carrier (yes, it's a Sonic drink carrier) and the background of the card.  I used Brights collection DSP for the Melon Mambo polka dot and then embossed die cut circles in chevron and houndstooth (I sponged those with coordinating ink) finally I added the "love & happiness" from Fabulous Phrases stamp set and topped it off with a small rhinestone, for a little bit of sparkle (Janey LOVES sparkle!!).

The bride loved the gift and the card!  She especially loved that they were her colors!  I'm just happy that she has found a wonderful man she can share love and happiness with!!
